Newegg replacement fans for M2?
Newegg replacement fans for M2?
I got a purchase to make on newegg tonight. I was curious if anyone has purchased replacement fans for their m2 on there. Which fans does the M2 use?
Re: Newegg replacement fans for M2?
is you m2 a 19v with the 2 power bricks or a 24v with a single big power supply?

Re: Newegg replacement fans for M2?
from what i remember jin, dale and the others posting is that 40 and 50mm 24v ball bearing fans that work with the m2 are hard to find. its just as easy to order them from makergear.

The fans are 12v. I cant seem to find the fans on makergears website.jimc wrote:from what i remember jin, dale and the others posting is that 40 and 50mm 24v ball bearing fans that work with the m2 are hard to find. its just as easy to order them from makergear.

you will need to email karen, rick or support. the new fans are 24v and ball bearing type. if you have 12v fans now then i guess you can replace with 12v. i would assume your firmware is set to limit current to those. i cant keep track of all the variations between firmwares, hot ends, fans and power supplies.
Re: Newegg replacement fans for M2?
The fans are under the "Gear->Spare Parts" tab on the main Makergear page. There's a drop down menu near the bottom of the page which lists a lot of stuff, uncluding 40 and 5mm fans.
My understanding of the fan situation is that MG now has the correct voltage ball bearing fans for 24v systems. This means 12 V fans for the electronics and nozzle, and 24 v for the 50mm bed.

Yep. I picked up a couple 24V 50mm fans at MG HQ a couple days ago. I would specify 24V in the "notes" box when ordering.Toby wrote:The fans are under the "Gear->Spare Parts" tab on the main Makergear page. Note that the electronics case fan (40 mm) and electronics case fan ARE both 12V -- they are wired in series.
When I bought me 24V upgrade kit, it came with a new wiring harness specifically set up to have the two fans in series. But I didn't want to mess with clipping out the old harness, etc., etc. So I went out on the web and bought several 40mm 24V ball-bearing fans and just spliced those onto the old connectors from the 12V fans I was replacing, so my 40mm fans are in PARALLEL. But new 24V M2s have those two as 12V fans in SERIES.
All I'm saying is: Just make sure you know what you have in your setup.
And when you place your order for fans thru MG, the fans are on the gear section on the website, but IIRC it doesn't specify voltage. So be sure to leave Karen a nice note telling her exactly what you need. Clarity leads to sanity and satisfaction. When you ASSUME.......

This information (revision and ID'ing guide) would make for a super handy sticky/wiki sort of thing!jimc wrote:i cant keep track of all the variations between firmwares, hot ends, fans and power supplies.
