If you ever need to smoke a full Raspberry Pi setup including it's power supply and WiFi stick, as well as brick your Rambo board simultaneously with minimal effort, simply wire 120AC to the DC power input of your Pi while it is plugged into the printer via USB. Poof, $250 in damages.

I don't screw up often, but when I do I prefer Dos Fuckup.

At least you were not playing with your explosives with a wiring incident.

Well one thing is for sure, the next time I power up a PI for the first time after wiring up a cabinet, I will make damn sure it is not connected to the M2. Just that one thing would have cut my losses down to $70. At least the Rambo board I smoked was not one of the new ones and I had a solid years use on it with many hours of printing. The PI components were bran-spanking new though.

Just out of curiosity, how is it that you ended up hooking up a Pi to line voltage?

It was a totally dumb not paying attention type of mistake. I have a bunch of stuff wired up in a cabinet and I wanted the Pi to power up when the main power switch was turned on. I wired the Pi DC input to the wrong side of a DPDT toggle switch which was switching 120 to the M2 power supply. So it fed 120 to both the Pi and it's power supply, then apparently the high voltage zapped the Rambo by coming in through the USB port. There's a possibility it might have even zapped the M2 power supply, I haven't checked it out yet.

-So today I knock a glass of Tea over onto my $90 backlit keyboard and killed it. All attempts at bringing it back to life failed-- a dozen or so random keys just stopped working.

And so it begins... the slow, degenerative journey into old age. I'm not even 50 yet for Christ sake.

Okay - i gotta laugh at this one - even though it's no laughing matter really....

You don't have to be aging to be a klutz....in my late 20's, (early in my career), i killed so many keyboards the IT department actually ordered a case of them with my name on it.

They should have just got you one of those rubber indestructible keyboards. I had to get one of those for my wife because the 3 yr old kept ripping keys off them. He destroyed 3 keyboards before I finally got the rubber one.

Normally I'm not a klutz and rarely spill anything, but I've noticed my brain isn't fully turned on in the morning and I think that's what did it. I remember watching the glass fall over and having it take a few seconds before realizing that I was watching a glass falling over.

Oh, and the Tea got on the mouse and killed it too. It just took half the day for the tea to evaporate into a sticky film that caused the buttons to jam internally.

My bad thing is Coke - I knock that over into a keyboard and you talk about sticky!

I have successfully cleaned them out though (keyboards) - although I'm not sure if you can do it with one that is back-lit. There is a rubber barrier underneath the keys that protects the electronics - try removing the screws and disassembling, clean off the rubber flap, literally rinse the top part off with the keys in it under running water to get all the sticky off, let it air dry for a week or so and reassemble.
