Only one problem with pausing it for a filament change.....and that's the glob that forms immediately when you pause the print, if you do not instantly drop the bed with the jog controls. Then you have to switch the filament out, get the exact amount of retraction as extrusion to get the filament flowing again, (because it's a relative thing, and the machine remembers how much you extruded when loading the new filament and compensates for it by retracting the same amount before it resumes), and then raise the bed again by the exact amount that you dropped it and resume printing. (Steve's got a whole write-up on how to correctly pause the machine in the How-To section....definitely worth a look.)scampa123 wrote:Thanks Jules, I read your post..excellent as usual! Would another way be to pause the print and change filaments? I haven't tried it but I know you can pause prints...just wondering...
It's just a heck of a lot easier to chase the new filament in while it prints.
