Referral Program

Post by mgryan73 » Fri Oct 07, 2016 8:20 pm

Hi everyone,

We've been working hard over the past few weeks to launch a new rewards program that we think you'll love, and we wanted to get your feedback before officially launching! Any commentary that you can provide will be carefully considered and greatly appreciated!

The text below provides a basic overview of our plans:

"After seeing how passionate our customers are about MakerGear products and their performance, we thought "Hey, why don't we start rewarding our community of Makers for what they're already doing?"

That's when we decided to create MakerGear Rewards, a new way for MakerGear customers to earn exclusive discounts while also giving friends access to free gear. So how does it work?

Simply share your "Why I chose MakerGear" story with friends, family, and colleagues, and you'll get a $100 MakerGear gift card for every friend who purchases an M2. No limits, just endless rewards.

But that's only one side of the deal — your friends will also get an extra 1 kg spool of PLA with their order and automatically be qualified to start earning rewards by referring their friends. Pretty cool, huh?"

We'd like to get your input before launching. While we welcome all forms of feedback, we're particularly interested in knowing your thoughts on the following two things:

1) Incentives - From the perspective of both a current M2 owner as well as a prospective M2 owner who's been recommended by a friend, do you feel compelled by our current rewards structure? Should we mix things up a bit? Please provide as much detail as possible in your feedback.

2) Language - Is there anything that is unclear or unsettling about the way we describe our rewards program and the benefits of participation? Please provide as much detail as possible in your feedback.

Thanks for all your help!

The Rewards program is experimental. If it works and you like, we'll keep it.

Thank you,
Rick

I would consider offering something more lasting than an extra spool of filament to buyers. The extra material is nice, but once it's gone ....
An extra glass plate, or couple of additional nozzle sizes - something that the buyer will have around for a bit and could change/improve how they use the machine.

my two bits ...

What a nice idea! :D

One thing that seems to have worked very well for a recent kickstarter I participated in, was to give each person who ordered a new machine a referral link, and each person that they got to use that link to purchase a machine earned a discount (say $100) and the person who referred them also got a discount off of their machine price, up to say $500 (or whatever) off for the original order. Set a time limit of a few months for recovery.

You could promo that original offer to schools who might want to pass the "Education Discount" on to the students, who will want to purchase machines they are familiar with when they graduate, and then the schools can apply the discount to more machines for the classes. Maybe set a time limit for the promo, around school budgeting time.

In other words, extend the benefits to the new customers. (They'll likely appreciate a bit of a discount more than extra filament at first.)

Also, if you have your own people on other forums who can provide a link for people there to use, you can by-pass the original order payout.

Just ideas........

Does it count if jprochnow buys and sells the same M2 a dozen times?

Wow pretty harsh but I can honestly say it is a different machine every time I sell one.
