Can I Print Directly on the MakerGear Heated Bed Platform?
Can I Print Directly on the MakerGear Heated Bed Platform?
I've read in many third party sources that users can print on the MakerGear Heated Bed Platform directly as well as the glass plates without tape nor any other stick material, is this remotely true?

Well I'm sure it could be done, but I'm not sure of the why. Also I would think that it would ruin the HBP over time.

Reasons NOT to do something like that:
1. You'd have to reset your Z-Stop or Starting Height, assuming you could get it up close enough to the switch to let you print on it.
2. You could not remove the bed to cool it. (Can't pop it into the freezer to remove the print.)
3. You might damage the surface of the bed when prying off a print - then you get to disassemble the whole machine to replace it.
What third party sources are advocating printing directly on the HBP? (If you want to print on metal, get a MIC6 plate cut for it - insta does them.)

Thank you both for your input! I will avoid! As for the MIC6 plate cut, can prints be printed on that without tape and is the height the same height as the glass plates or do I need to alter the starting height with the leveling process again?

Any time you change the bed, you need to re-level.

Maybe the people saying this meant that users can print on the bare glass directly? Definitely not the bare HBP though...w22 wrote:users can print on the MakerGear Heated Bed Platform directly
