Hi all,
anybody know why Makergear doesn't produce a .25 stainless steel nozzle? I like printing with metal filaments (proto-pasta, in particular) and I'm having good results with their copper filament with the .25 brass nozzle. I don't feel like blowing it out with the stainless steel filament, so .25 SS nozzle would be great. Are their any other sources to get such a nozzle other than Makergear?

seems to be a proprietary nozzle.. I did not find anything else when searching on the internet.

Based on absolutely no inside information, I'd say a specialty nozzle made with a specialty material represents such a small slice of the market there's a powerful incentive to not go there. After ordering, say, 50 nozzles to get a barely acceptable cost/nozzle, they'd have 48 of 'em on the shelf after five years … [grin]

I see - it seems to me it isn't that much a specialty, considering the proliferation of metal filaments on the market lately. oh well.
I wonder how long a brass nozzle would last me printing with SS..guess I'll find out.

it's harder to print harder to level it would probably get clogged easily and people would complain (as they always do) with the manufacture of the nozzle or the machine itself instead of understanding the limitation of the personal small device vs more industrial machine.

not only the time of the printing will increase exponentially to unreasonable timing unless you do very very tiny object in that case you selected the wrong time of printing machine you should go Resin and cast metal in it.

each machine is made for a purpose and printing tiny object that would work better with a 0.25 is not the purpose of this machine

that's why you don't see many 0.25 around

it seems to work pretty well for what I'm doing. the .25 nozzle isn't clogging either. it's great filament

problem is that people just think as the universe end with themselves.

the fact that your specific use is ok with .25 doesn't make it a reasonable nozzle

if you printed a lot and not only that thing you will know that nozzle clog that the smaller the easier to clog and mass producing something like that will create problem as most people will complain if they get clogged to easily or after few print instead of .25 they are already .3

but if you didn't get the concept before i doubt this will clear things up
.25 have very very little use and this is why is rarely made wouldn't be better try to calibrate your object to a .35

listen pal, I was simply showing an example of how a .25 SS nozzle is a viable and useful piece of equipment for printing with metal filament, and I've done many of these without clogs. If you feel the need to be arrogant and insulting then feel free to traipse off to another thread and give your valuable advice elsewhere.

In the defense of the .25 nozzle.. let me see you print a 28mm D&D miniature with the 3.5.. The .25 does not clog if properly maintained with cleaning filament. It is my favorite nozzle when I need to print something small. I even use an Extrusion width of .25 at time! It prints Taulman alloy 910 like butter!
If you print something big, you use the .5 .. proper tool for the job, and if you want detail .25 is the king!
