Another (semi) successful Bridging calibration

Post by Mike Hunter » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:02 pm

I've been fighting with (those pesky) Bridging issues for quite some time and decided (yesterday) to resolve those issues. I have several projects pending where Bridging will be necessary. I could use support, and will when absolutely necessary, but I'd rather let the printer do the work whenever possible.
Test 1-cropped.jpg
The first print using the default S3D settings
Test 6-cropped.jpg
Test print number 6, the best of the bunch.
Test 7-cropped.jpg
The last print which started to droop once again
By adjusting the Bridging Extruder and Speed Multipliers, and playing with the Extruder temp, I was able to get the results shown above. Granted, the distance bridged is only 30MM, but it gives me hope that I can massage the parameters further when the distance requires it.

Does anyone know of a website, blog or forum post that might assist in demystifying Bridging on 3D Printers?

Well, so what were your good settings?

I did a bunch of searching and reading some time ago, and the suggestions were all over the place. Bridge fast; no, bridge slow. For myself, I've found that bridging slowly (20mm/s or so) and at 90% extrusion works well enough for longish spans, with a lot of fan.

Here are the settings I used for test print #6
