Filament guide for Ninjaflex

Post by jimy_f_84 » Fri May 09, 2014 5:02 pm

I have struggled with the ninjaflex and the guide tube or holding the filament by hand, so finally i made this to feed the filament to print head directly above it.

I had a similar problem feeding flexible polyester filament, and did a similar thing with plastic storage crates and a dowel rod. It seems to help to have the filament feed from directly overhead.

I also just got this new tubing from amazon:

I don't know what the makergear tubing is made of, but this stuff is teflon and it's very slippery. Can't feel any resistance when feeding the flexible filament into it by hand.

Thanks I ordered some off eBay. I had the filament jam in the tubing killing an 8 hour print six hours in.

I just got a roll of Ninjaflex today and already had the more slippery feed tube. But twice I tried to feed it through the stock extruder drive and both times it jammed (stepper motor noise), both times had to take the extruder drive off to clear it, and barely got it off the second time.

Is there any trick to getting it to feed at all?
