jimc and I have both had parts finish with the end of the filament in the guide tube. I posted a photo somewhere here showing about eight inches of filament up in the tube above the hot end. I think jimc's best is a tad better. Josh at MakerGear HQ still holds the record, though, AFAIK. Not sure what his personal best is now, but he prints so much stuff he's bound to luck out now and then.

Hey, Josh! Gotten down below 3" yet?

I beat Josh, but had no picture. It was about an inch of filament left over after a 14 hour, 350 gram print.

I called that my Hannakuh spool

That's when you save the spool and reload it with filament. When you're THAT lucky you surely don't just trash it.
