Quickie print for Mother's Day

Post by Jules » Thu Apr 23, 2015 12:27 am

Just in case anyone (besides me) has trouble coming up with ideas, I knocked out a quick-print Lace Egg and just uploaded it to Thingie.......

Print it with the following settings to get the lace effect:

Top Layers: 0
Bottom Layers: 0
Perimeter: 1
Infill: 20%
Layer Height: 0.2 mm
Extrusion Width: 0.4 mm

And I threw in an assembly diagram. (You guys probably don't need it, but I put it in for beginners.) :)

(The one I uploaded has a slightly flat bottom, and does not need a stand....I just happened to have one around.)

Thanks! :D
(Lace isn't my thing at all, but mom loves it.)

Danke! :D
Also playing with the idea of turning it into a decorative night light, by bottom lighting it with an LED lamp. (But that is so not my strong suit!) Do they sell little pre-made setups for that kind of thing?

Search Amazon for "LED tea lights". Most have faux flame lights, but a few don't.

Perfect! Ordered a batch of ten for something like seven bucks! Many thanks Jin! :D
Soon as they come in I'll work up a base.

I got my LED tea lights in yesterday, they don't put out a heck of a lot of light, but I do like the effect....
This is the little egg sitting on a rough shell base...

I need to fiddle with attaching it to the base somehow, and definitely need to thicken the sides, (or go with a solid), since the Rhino shell default is a bit thin, but it gets the idea across, and I wanted to print a quick base first to see if I even liked it before spending a lot of time on it.

Plug for MakerGear.

Upgrade to dual V4, print the base, switch extruder, print lace

Actually, looks pretty good to me.

This looks great. I am going to make this and see how it works. I do think it looks great with a base, might look for some colored LED's
