new improved filament holder with cleaning sponge
new improved filament holder with cleaning sponge

I have improved on the M2 filament holder to have an incorporated door for adding a cleaning sponge.
It also has and entry and exit lead in press fit shaft fro the 4.8Ø Bowden tube.
I made an entry lead in because I am also working on creating a sealed box for the filament with an exit tube the same as M2 Bowden tube so it plugs right into the entry under side.
Please let me know if you like it and if it was useful.

Re: new improved filament holder with cleaning sponge
That's pretty sweet.....can you run up a quickie for the right side as well? (On the duals, the secondary filament holder is attached with a single screw in the upper right X-motor hole.)
Or maybe just post your original format file to play with, STLs are a pure pain to try to modify.
You need to join the MakerGear M2 group over on Thingiverse and post that there as well. Great job!

Re: new improved filament holder with cleaning sponge
thanks Jules,
I appreciate it, I am a newbie to MakerGear and I would love to set it up with dual extruder, have to learn how.
I am used to printing on larger machines using dual extruders and PLA as support to wash away. Would love to do it on the M2, does it work well?
That said, I don't know exactly where the secondary filament holder goes, so I might just share my file if you like, its solidworks 2015, do you prefer it native or a STEP?
thanks
Peter
PS.. I am on thingverse and posted but didn't know there was a Makergear group, how do I find it to join?

Yes indeed - it's an easy upgrade.psd wrote:thanks Jules,

Re: new improved filament holder with cleaning sponge
There are a couple of other pieces, cables and harness, etc. that come with the Dual, so you need to order the Upgrade kit on the page below. (Be sure to tell them you are upgrading a Rev. E machine in the comments.)just order the other extruder from Makergear?

Re: new improved filament holder with cleaning sponge
clasp was a bit thin, made it thicker and deeper.
Re: new improved filament holder with cleaning sponge
Jules- can you show me pictures of current right side filament holders in place and off, maybe I can adapt this left side one to the right, if I only understood where it goes.....Jules wrote:That's pretty sweet.....can you run up a quickie for the right side as well? Yeah...hang on a sec.....
Re: new improved filament holder with cleaning sponge
Found a couple of pics from the assembly instructions:
Pretty simple - they go like this:
Remove the M3x12 screw from the back right corner of the X Motor.
Secure the Right Filament Guide into this position using the supplied M3x14 screw and washer.
If you get time, that'd be great - I'm totally tied up with invalid care of various creatures at the moment.
