m2 electronics box

Post by jimc » Thu Apr 10, 2014 3:27 am

i figure i would break this section in and make the first post. here is my printable m2 electronics box. has a locking bar in the back that holds the power connectors securely in place to avoid them working loose causing a bad connection and getting hot. reset button also included. i would upload the actual file here but file size is limited.

Really nice job - I especially like the locking bar at the back.

If you ever feel yourself lacking for things to do, I would love to see a modified version for the Vikki LCD like this http://www.thingiverse.com/make:45521

I know obviously that's a case that's already done like that, but your box is much better with the screws and rear locking bar.

Alternatively if you are happy to share the original files (which format do you have) I would happily add the front section myself... I never did figure out how people edit STL files with much success.

thanks and yeah stls are little tough. i can do some basic stuff with them but its a bit quirky. i use rhino. i dont have a viki so modeling a box for it would be tough. ill share the files if rhino works for you. its .3dm. i can save as other formats but they always seem to have issues when people open them up. the 3dm is best but IGES seems to work best for an export. just let me know

Looks like I can work with .3dm if you want me to give that a shot?

It wouldn't take much to merge the ideas from Jim's case with my Vikki LCD case. I do like the locking bar, could definitely see adding that. I didn't want screws because I was always taking the cover off messing with this or that on the Rambo board. I could see adding screw holes to my design too though, and you could opt to either screw it down or not.

Right now I am working on a printed shell for my quadcopter and some other prints. So not sure when I would get back to this. They are great ideas!

Anything else you see that needs changed before I did a revision?
