I make costume pieces and props. Here are a few ones I finished recently.

WOW :shock: Very impressive such amazing work .... I can hardly wait to get my printer. What do you use (program wise) to design something like that anyway?

Everything is printed in ABS and painted with acrylic, bottle paint and spray paint.

Great work. You're using SolidWorks for artistic props? The mind boggles.

thats fine work there my friend. i love to see the printer used for stuff like that then faux finished and turned into something useful and cool.

Thanks everyone! Yeah, Solidworks is all I know how to use...I could probably be a lot more efficient if I learned another modeling software like Blender or Maya. Have any of you used those programs for modeling "abstract" items?

I don't know that switching software would serve you any better. Blender has an infamously steep learning curve, and Maya is, I believe, a mesh modeler not particularly suited for generating solid models. I like SolidWorks, and wish I could afford it. You just don't see it used all that often for non-mechanical models.

What did you do for the faux-rust effect on the scythe?
