drawer pulls

Post by jsc » Mon Sep 15, 2014 1:12 am

We lost/broke two of our drawer pulls. The originals are metal, with metal pins that hook into knobs on the drawers. Printed pins wouldn't work, so I tried a screw with a captive nut arrangement. Didn't figure on the flex of the plastic: it flexes enough so that the "pins" can pull right out. I had to put nuts on the opposite end as well, which makes the captive nut a useless complication other than to provide a wider bearing surface. I'd prefer it if the hardware were better hidden, and the profile isn't a perfect match, but it was a fun exercise.
