Could I offer a critique? Having the nut nest in from the bottom may tempt the whole thing to pull out (even if its glued). Perhaps have a slot cut above the bottom disk so that the nut cant pull out.

That's the same issue I had back in the day with the penny bottle openers that were popular on thingiverse for awhile. Like those, you could mitigate the problem by just decreasing the nut's hole size a bit more, and then heat the nut up on the stove hot enough so it'll melt into the ABS/PLA/whatever you used, and then weld it into the model that way. Requires playing with fire, but I think we could handle thatMatt_Sharkey wrote:Cool!

My original idea was to combine this thing with the Quick connect arca Swiss mount. I tried to combine them in 123d but when I printed it S3d saw 2 pieces and tried to print them sideways with 2 brims. What a mess. This one turned out with the nut recess distorted so I used an arbor press to press in the nut.
Since I am a noob I haven't shown all my failures. My new problem is getting pla to stick when the part is narrow and long. One end pulls up. I have had great results with round based objects. Most of my errors I could fix by doing a search and finding solutions on old threads. Everyone seems togo through the same learning process.

You might want to look into these Heat-Set Inserts for Plastics, I'm not sure how strong they are I've only used the little 2-56 and 4-40 ones so far but they a pretty easy to use. I get them from McMaster in bulk but they might available else where too in smaller quantities.
