So I finally got my bronze in and finished my vorpal and here it is. I also got in my .8mm nozzle and thought I would throw in Franky at the back of the pic to show the difference

The blade was printed with a .25mm nozzle
The handle .4mm stainless nozzle
Franky head with a .8mm nozzle - only 147 layers in the entire print - speedy

What kind of hot end?

I have a 0.6 and liked it very much. I wanted to get a 0.8 and run a 1mm layer height, but JimC said that 0.6 was the largest practical size for an E3D because of the flow rate without getting their Volcano option.

I run an E3D. I wont say that printing it .8 wasn't without its challenges. You need to print hotter and slower to get good adhesion but not so much slower that it outweighs the pure speed of printing at that layer height which in this case was .6mm

nice job on the blade and handle. Where are you getting the stainless nozzles?

Sorry, I said height but I meant 1mm layer width for a 0.8mm nozzle.

The head was printde at .96 width I think.

yes i have found the e3d only melts the plastic so fast and i can easily hit that limit with a .6 nozzle making there no point in me putting my .8 in there. if there is no speed difference then nothing to be gained really.

I see. When you hit max flow, you are max flowing. So a larger nozzle does not make things faster. If I had a dual extruder I would put a 0.35 on one and a 0.6 on the other.

exactly, that is where the volcano comes in. larger hot zone and a higher wattage heater so it melts faster
