First... I've had my MakerGear M2 for one week; it's the first 3D printer I've ever used. I couldn't be happier with it.

OK, second... one of the reasons I bought a 3D printer was to design and print custom enclosures for projects that I've been developing. One of the projects uses a Raspberry Pi with an LCD touch screen, and an enclosure was available for a 2.8" LCD touchscreen. I wanted to redesign the lid of the enclosure to accommodate a larger 3.5" LCD touchscreen. I used 123Design for the CAD, and Simplify3D to drive the printer. I'm pretty satisfied with the result:

If you get OctoPi running on that, you can drive your printer from it....

Does Octopi display anything worthwhile when used with a screen?

OctoPi itself is just a web service. You can run a web browser on the screen to get the UI.

I have also seen folks using older tablets and phones as a screen as well. I have an old IPad that developed some lines on the screen that I hoped to use as an interface on one of my printers. I could use the LCD panel, but the iPad is kinda sweet.

Why oh why is the Marlin LCD interface laid out in such an unusable fashion I'll never know. Why would you bury the most important function (jog axis) you would use 10 times a day 3 layers deep at the bottom of a list of functions is beyond me.

The newest version of octoprint supports the touch ui . I have found it to be very good. It can be enabled via settings.

I don't see anything about that in MY settings, and I just updated to the very latest devel version. Where is it?

Sorry for starting this thread hijack. I'm glad you found anything I've said helpful

It is a plugin. go to plugins and activate the plugin manager .search new plugins for touch ui download install reboot . afterwards any small screen can trigger it automatically. They have other usefull plugins worth a look while you are there.
