3D Printed Molding To Replace Wood Molding

Post by apk » Sun Mar 06, 2016 3:02 am

My refrigerator is starting its 23rd year... and it's still fully operational, although it's needed a bit of maintenance over the years. A failed defroster timer led to a small leakage of water... which caused some water damage to the wood moldings surrounding the refrigerator. By a lucky accident, the color of MakerBot "Warm Gray" filament is nearly the same color as the paint used on the molding. So... I thought I'd print a replacement molding:

Yea thats a great use for a printer. I did the sme thing last year. I made moldings that trim the bottom of my railing posts for my deck. Being plastic they never rot, warp or fall apart.
