Here's a little breakdown of most of the parts for the body. The large triangles are made up of three smaller ones here to the left.

The orange circles are plit into 4 and the panels in the middle are split in half.
The dome is split in 3rds in several layers, with one layer for the bottom, one for the ring, one for the main dome part (in picture), then two separate parts for the top
I did not model it myself, we have a bb-8 builders group that I am part of the admin team, and one talented modeler and one tester have gone through modeling, looking, and testing to get it to this point. I've been mostly putting my creative efforts in the mechanics and how it is build up inside..
