Bombs Away!

Jim's bomb as mine is only 1/4 scale but I'm very happy with how it came out. Much like Jim I had to model it form the few pictures and diagrams that are on the web. I originally modeled it to fit a 2" piece of PVC for the body (much like Jim did) to save printing time but ended up just printing the entire thing because it was small and only added another few hours of time for the middle body section.
I had to go with printed stencils for the lettering and because of the size I couldn't fit all of the writing on the casing but this is close enough for my liking.
I added a fun little love note on the side like the boys use to leave for Hitler in WWII.
I went with a nose fuse on mine just to add a little cool detail.
I also went with a different type of tail fuse (4 blade) just because it was easier to print.
A few more picture can be seen here if you're interested.
Anyway it was a fun project to model and print and I just wanna thank Jim for giving me the Idea. I might have to try a 500lb one next. (still 1/4 scale of course)
.
It took a few years but I finally took that page out of Jim's book so to speak. It's not as cool and epic as I had to go with printed stencils for the lettering and because of the size I couldn't fit all of the writing on the casing but this is close enough for my liking.
