Repairing an 8mm movie projector

I'm always on the lookout for old projectors when I visit thrift stores. Last weekend I happened upon a Kodak Instamatic M80 Super 8/Regular 8 projector in great shape for $20. But it had one common failure: The snubber/damping arm had disintegrated. I found a video on YouTube showing a working projector with the arm intact:

I also found some pictures of just the arms from sites that were selling supposedly new old stock replacements (for $25 each! ):

There was enough of mine left to get some basic measurements so using the remnants of mine and the pictures, it was off to OpenSCAD. Not exactly like the original but it had the dimensions and features it needed:

After a little wet sanding, installed and working!:

Spent the last few nights transferring 10+ reels of regular 8 and super 8 home movies and it's still chugging along.

Little niche "Hey! I think I can fix this" projects like this is exactly why I first got into 3d printing.
