First Print on new M3 Dual

Post by Explorer74 » Sat Aug 26, 2017 6:22 pm

Well I got my M3 Independent Dual the other day and have been having a blast with it. It is a fabulous printer. The profiles for Simplify3D are not out yet for the M3ID, but I had this highly detailed file for the Aztec Calendar. This has so much detail in it that slicing took almost an hour. The print ran 10.5 hours but the result was incredible. I have attached a picture (I hope)

Beautiful print. Can you give details on what filament you used, and what you did for finishing the piece? It looks like you probably weren't making use of the dual functionality?

Can we get pictures of the M3 Dual printing??

Someone named "kgranat" put up some M3-SE and M3-ID profiles for S3D on GitHub. I don't know him nor do I remember seeing that name on the forum so I can't vouch for the profiles.

I'd also very much like to see a video of the M3-ID in action.

I just got the profiles for the dual printing. I'll upload pictures when I get them. The Aztec calendar was printed with the black filament that came with the printer. I painted the entire print with a dark brown/bronze and then dry brushed a metallic gold over that. Then I designed and printed a stand :-)

Hello,
I'm the mysterious 'someone' who posted the new M3 profiles :)

I'm Kyle, one of the engineers at MakerGear.

Only MakerGear employees have access to the MakerGear Github repository, so anything that's on there has been vetted. Though I do recommend to sticking to the 'Release' page for any repository for finalized versions of firmware/plugins/profiles.

We'll have more factory files, information and documentation on the profiles soon!

I hope I didn't annoy you. I just did a quick google search and stumbled across that. I posted it for others who might be able to use it. I searched your name on the forum but nothing came up so I wrote the post as I did. Thanks for the info.

no one was offended...the response was to clarify the legitimacy of the profiles.

Rick/Kgranat:

Thanks. Making sure users knew the source was legit was the vibe I got from kgranat's post too. The "I'm the someone" part was funny.

How are the profiles working?
