filament not melting

Ok forum I am stumped. I have the heat turned up to 245 for ABS. The gear is turning but nothing coming out. ABS is feeding into the hot tube but it is not getting hot enough to go through the nozzle. For S and giggles I cranked up the heat and still not getting through a .50 nozzle. Nozzle is clean and new. Help?????????

is your tension too tight? you can squish the filament out of round so it will not feed through the lower hole of the filament drive. abs requires almost no tension

You can verify jimc's suggestion by loosening the tension screw fully and gently hand-feeding the filament through the nozzle. If it still doesn't extrude, you may have some type of obstruction. I know it is a new nozzle, but something could have fallen in accidentally at some point during installation and caused a blockage.
