HEATER BED DOES NOT HEAT UP

Post by COBRAJET » Sat Apr 02, 2016 3:05 pm

I have a MakerGear M2 (2013) model and the heater bed no longer heats up.
I purchased a new heater bed but that was not the problem as the new one does not heat up either.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? might it be the cables have a break internally due to the many hours of printing? Might it be the board controller?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you melt the connector going into the RAMBo? Your machine is at the age that you should do the full 24v upgrade from MakerGear -- this includes a new everything and will definitely get your heatbed running again if it's not a software issue.

Short answer: yes.

Longer answer: Check the platform heater wire joints / connectors...
  • Near the connector at the platform
  • At the connector inside electronics box
  • At the power connector from the +12 V brick
In general, you must push back the insulation sleeve to inspect the wires while flexing them. It helps to use an ohmmeter to verify continuity while you flex the wires, although you'll need at least three hands or two clip leads for those tests.

It could be a failed MOSFET on the Rambo board, but that's the least likely situation.

Good hunting...
