Canceling/Pausing/Emerg Stop a Disk Print?

Post by outlaw704 » Mon May 12, 2014 6:07 pm

Most of my first prints were from Simplify3D using USB. If I ran into troubles, I could use Emergency Stop to abort the current print job.

Now, I'm finding it convenient to print from disk, get the job started and unplug my laptop and let it run. Today I saw the print wasn't up to snuff so I plugged the USB cord back in and the print job froze: bed up and x, y motion stopped.

If printing from disk how do you cancel, pause or emergency stop a print?

If you have left your USB connected after starting the print, you can Pause SD Print using the button next to the Start SD Print. You can also emergency stop.

If you have disconnected, then reconnecting will cause a reset. For emergency stop purposes, I have the Belkin power strip with a big wireless remote on/off switch on the wall next to the printer.

I would like to know if pulling the power is the ONLY way to stop an SD card based print?
Couldn't find any other way or am I missing something on the controller?
Cheers

You can always unplug/replug the USB cable, as above :-) That will reset the board. There is no other really easy way other than Emergency Stop.

Oh, right, there's that button, I'd completely forgotten about that.

Thanks - that's well labeled! Now I know what it is, I will use it.
The Rambo KILL button - that is.

On my elec box that i designed i have an actual button that sticks out so you can just press it. Im not sure if that button fits the stock box or not. I thought a long time ago i remember someone posting one on thingiverse for the stock box but im not sure if its still there.

I use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Prime-Wire-Cable- ... oot+switch

Its large size makes it easy to press, for when you need to perform an emergency shutdown.
