V4 extruding issue

Post by nokianich » Wed Mar 11, 2015 12:59 am

Hello,

Just installed a V4... installed a new filament, extruded about 30-40mm and start printing, on the second layer it stopped extruding and extruder motor started grinding. I did rectract filament, cut it and feed it again, if i extract 10-20 mm it is ok, but when I click on extract 100mm or just click on 10mm extract button it gets stock pretty quickly, feels like it doesn't have time to melt and motor grinds filament, every time I retract it I see the same picture on the same length. I raised temp to 250 and still didn't help.. what can it be?

have you tried reducing the tension on the filament. if the tension is too high you can squish it out of round causing it to get stuck or feed hard. this is especially true if the filament dia is on the large side. is this makergear filament? does it do the same thing with other filaments as well? is that silver or just grey filament?

Yes, I did try to reduce a tension, no luck

this is eSun filament, grey. It gets stuck at the same length on all other filaments.

It's a long shot but double check that the exturder is aligned correctly with the hot end, maybe it's off a bit and causing drag on the filament.

That was my first thought but it goes through it smoothly and it gets stuck right in the hot-end

gets stuck at the same point and length of the stuck filament says that it happens in the middle of hot-end...

Maybe the hot end isn't up to the right temperature, did you ensure that the thermistor is fully seated in the hot end assembly? I know mine was pretty loose fit and I had to zip tie the wires together to keep it from pulling out.

it melts, at the beginning melted filament comes out of the nozzle... But it gets hot pretty fast, much faster than V3B

P.S> just installed thermistor from my V3B... it let me extrude more than before but then got stuck again
