heater bed tape?

Post by kyphur » Tue Mar 31, 2015 12:34 am

One of the wire came apart that connected to the heater bed's under surface. Luckily it looks as if it's given me enough room to crimp without having to remove the solder and re-solder.

I know I've seen this type of tape that they have over the connectors but I have no idea what it is called so I can find it locally (if possible). I know it's probably some sort of fiberglass tape and they put some high temp red RTV silicon over the connectors before sealing.

Anyone know what type of tape this is?

It's the same stuff used on the Arcol hotend, and although I recognize the description, I'm coming up blank on the name.

Heh, it's definitely not just heat shrink.

Yeah, the only fiberglass style tape I could find was the stuff for drywalls which is really thin. The red RTV would seep right through it if I used it.

how about an email to rick. im sure he would know. the fiberglass is probably part of the silicone. i have seen stuff like that sold as heat shield tape. i used to have a piece but it was 1/4" thick and dont remember who made it.

Dang, I didn't catch the width. I just need a two inch by two inch square roughly.
