Hi , I have a some problems with me extruder motor
1- The inner gear is not attach any more so the motor turns and nothing happens
2- the motor heats up so high while in prints
i glued the inner gear which worked for couple a days but after that it just became lose again due to heat issues i guess
Extruder motor inner gear not attached
Re: Extruder motor inner gear not attached
more info is needed. what gear are you referring to? the gear that drives and makes contact with the filament or one inside the planetary gearbox of the stepper?
Re: Extruder motor inner gear not attached
I had the same problem awhile ago on my newest press about a month after firing it up. After some back and forth with MG support we figured out the gear that drives the planetary gears wasn't properly fastened to the main shaft so the gear... while it still turned would slip down the shaft and no longer make contact well enough with the planetary gears which in turn would cause some funky feeding issues. (it would feed in inconstantly or not at all) Support said I could reattach it with a certain Loctite (can't remember which number variant) to temporally fix it while they sent me out a new motor. I just waited on the new motor so I never tried the fix but in a nut shell..... Just contact support and they will get you going again.

Re: Extruder motor inner gear not attached
the one inside the gear box i just glued it and printed with it but that would be the second time my main issue right now is the overheating of the extruder motor
Re: Extruder motor inner gear not attached
thank you that is my problem but how to contact support through the forum or whatsthone wrote:I had the same problem awhile ago on my newest press about a month after firing it up. Re: Extruder motor inner gear not attached
The pinions are glues on with loctite retaining compound. Normal operating temp after running a couple few hours is in the 60c range. So fairly warm. 60-70 would Not be overheating. You dont contact support through the forum. Open a support ticket. Instructions should be on the website.
Re: Extruder motor inner gear not attached
seso,
i bought some loctite 609 (retaining compund) to fix a stepper that had a worn out pinion ... i didn't use for the opposite reason, i count get the old pinion off.
if support dosnt help you, and you cant find the right loctite anyplace, let me know i'll ship this out to you.. even have a pinion gear. i can send with it if needed.

From the webpage...seso wrote:thank you that is my problem but how to contact support through the forum or what
For technical support, please send an email to support@makergear.com with the following information. We need this information to diagnose problems. Not providing the following information may lead to a significant delay in response time.
1) A detailed explanation of the problem. If it is an extrusion problem, include the type/color of the filament you are using, the extrusion temperature, and the software you are using to run the printer. Well-lit in-focus photos and/or video are very helpful.
2) Your contact information including email and phone number.
3) The order number or the person who placed the order. If you did not make the purchase directly from MakerGear, please indicate where you made the purchase.
4) The serial number, if applicable. M2 serial numbers are located on the back under the barcode.
Technical support hours are normally Monday - Friday 9:00AM - 5:00 PM Eastern Time. Support is generally handled through email. During business hours we typically respond within a few hours. It can, however, take up to 48 hours to receive a response. Weekend support requests are typically handled on Monday morning. Our goal is to be as responsive as possible but support volume varies and that impacts our response time.
