Z-axis ripple on very small cylinder

Post by pcenginefx » Tue Sep 01, 2015 5:09 am

Hi all,

I was printing this very small cylinder on my M2 and noticed that I have a surface ripple effect (see photo). Doesn't seem to show up on larger cylinders....any ideas? I also attached my S3D print profile as well. Thanks for any help!

My first guess would be (non-)cooling effects. A single cylinder that small won't have enough time to cool down before the next layer is laid. Try printing several at once and see if you still get the effect. Make sure your fan is on (for PLA, not other materials).

Thanks for the reply - yeah I was thinking that as well that it might not have enough time to cool between layers. I'll try printing a few of them at a time as even with 2, I get the same issue (may have to print 3 at a time in this case).
