M2 printer won't extrude

Post by Dexenthes » Sun Nov 01, 2015 12:39 am

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my M2 extruding. It extrudes a tiny bit when it's printing, and it almost seems o extrude tiny droplets in pulses as it goes. I have tightened and loosened the filament tension screw, but this has not made any difference. The filament is able to back out just fine. When I reverse the filament, this is what I get:

When I start up the printer, I can extrude just fine. It's only when I start the printing job that no filament extrudes at all.

What filament, what temperature, what layer height, what nozzle diameter, what print speed, and are you using a fan?

You have no tooth marks on that filament at all. (Or none that i can see at that angle.) You need to increase the tension on the filament drive screw, so that it catches the filament and pushes it through.

1/4 turn at a time to tighten, don't overdo it. Try again and if it feeds in, retract the filament and look at the tooth marks by holding it up to the light. You want about a 10-15% square-shaped bite mark taken out of the filament above the gooey part.

(That gooey bit happens when you pull the filament out of the barrel while it is still warm. Doesn't hurt anything.) :D
