Moved house, now the z-axis is jamming

Post by Mind » Sat Nov 21, 2015 5:14 pm

I have not printed in months, but have moved house twice. Each time I was super careful with the printer and moved it in the front passenger seat footwell of my car.

Now that I have a new house and can set up my printer again, I tried to get it working this morning.

The z-screw cannot traverse the full length without jamming. I have ensured it is clean and re-greased. With the motors off, I cannot easily move the bed up/down like I used to be able to do.

How do I re-align the z-screw ?

Thanks in advance,

-Mind

Able/Willing to take some pics ?

Could the Z Knob become cocked, and its essentially too snug ?

Machine looks like it is in perfect condition (I baby it!).

Z-knob is not cocked. I can turn it and it move the build platform up/down. It is just too stiff for the motor. This is why I assume it is an alignment issue.

That Z-rod (and the two smooth rods) have to be perfectly straight and vertical, maybe something got slightly twisted or bent. It wouldn't take much to cause it to jam. :(

Exactly.... how to re-align it ?

If that does not work, it might be bent.

I would start by looking at the kit assembly instructions - they likely discuss it there.

Nope. They are aimed at assembly, but there is very little in there on alignment.
