Lead Screw locked - URGENT - vis motrice bloquée

Greetings Makers,
Bought the M2 last summer. After a lot of tweaking, managed some decent prints and then had to change house.
Upon unpacking the M2, hook everything up, test the motors:
X and Y work fine upon manual impulse and digital control.
The problem:
lead screw: Completely locked.
Symptoms
Manual impulse: Nothing. I cannot physically raise the platform with my hand using reasonable amount of force.Nothing at all.
Digital control: the motor whines but absolutely no movement (not surprising since I could not raise it by hand). The motor whines the appropraite length of time and stops when I manually press the stop at the top of the column.
Potential causes:
The lead screw and columns were, despite the plastic covering, layered in dust and crap. I of course cleaned and greased them before testing.
However, could the dirt have gone into the Z-axis motor and cause it to jam? Or elsewhere that I could not visually check for dirt?
I could only, by gripping the screw and turning it with a lot of strength, get it to turn a few degrees. Quite worrisome.
I absolutely need this printer this weekend to print many many pieces for, ironically, a presentation to promote 3D printing for modelling. I am currently in a remote country so not sure I could order spare parts in time, unless I take a hop to Europe.
I don't understand how it could lock to the point I cannot raise it by hand. That's a lot of force to resist.
Should I take apart the motor? check for dirt? I would rather not to that as it entails taking apart the machine.
Although I would normally take the time to contact the excellent Makergear tech support, I don't have that time at the moment and need a solution today.
Thank you and I apologize for the time factor.
Happy new year!
