This is the first time I've ventured to try a new filament type, since I typically print in PLA...

I'm trying to heat the bed to 110 and it is taking what seems like forever! It gets to 109 and cannot seem to make it to 110! I see it bounce around at 109-108.8...

Have others had issues with this?

I'm on the 24v power supply (recently upgraded), glass build plate...

It's in the house, so it's not like it's sitting outside or anything....

I'd say it's been heating for at least 45mins...

Maybe its the fans on the extruder cooling the bed?? I'm guessing here!

i do think its the fan...im noticing i cannot turn it off in Octoprint....not sure why...im trying to cover it so the bed will heat up

the cooling fan is controlled by M106

try sending the command M106 S0

There is a gap between the bed heater and the spider. in the past I cut a microfiber towel to size to fit in there. it helped a bit in warming up the bed, but it wasn't worth it to me in the long run to keep it. maybe try something similar.

Anyway, 110 is too much for anything I've used. 60 PLA, 90 PETG, 100 ABS (maybe).

110 is for keeping my morning toast warm.

45 is pretty long. i think about 20-25 is about right. i think i started epc out at 110 but looking at my profile i dropped that down to 100 at some point and dont recall seeing a difference. epc is the hottest bed temp of anything i run.

Could you just set a sheet of aluminum foil on it? Or would that heat it up too quickly?

I'm not sure...It was definitely the bed fan cooling the bed...It seems like I cannot turn off the bed fan via the S3D UI or the Octoprint one. As soon as I connect, the fan is on...

I'd have thought the fan would be off for heating up and then turn on when actually printing..am I right in this??

I'll have to try sending the code that was pointed out and see if it turns off that way...else maybe I have it plugged in wrong...I recently did my 24v upgrade...

Are you talking about the upper fan? That needs to stay on to cool the extruder, or you will get clogs and possibly a melt down. You can shut it off in the stock M2 firmware using M108, but it needs to be on if the extruder is heated.
