speaking of dumb a$$ ;)

tech support questions go in the "tech support" forum. i know its tricky sometimes

Do you have any other information other than "it says connection failed"? What port are you using, what port shows up as "RAMBo" in Computer Management, what baudrate are you using, is the USB cable known good, etc?

Try going to the Machine Control Panel in Simplify3D, press the Connect/Disconnect Button. Then once it cycles, press it again to connect if needed. (The M2 needs to be turned on.)

If you have the M2 powered on completely before you open S3D, it connects automatically, otherwise you have to connect it through the machine control panel. (That's a Win 8.1 quirk as well.)

Insta go easy on the newbies they don't know about your sense of humor yet.

First make sure you did get the driver on this page an did install it.

When you start S3D hit (Ctrl P) to bring up the machine control panel. Make sure your com port is correct and that your baud rate is set to 115200. Hit connect and see what happens in the communication tab.

True! I was so traumatized, i could barely squeak out a post.
(The loud snorts and guffaws you can hear echoing around the planet are testament to the flat disingenuity of that statement.) :P
