Broken Wire to Heated Bed

OK, I will soon see how tech support handles the broken wire to the heated bed.
This wire is under a lot of shake and stress from the way the bed moves and after
seeing how it was put together, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I do see the need for a wire tie next to or thereabouts where the ground wire is.
Countersunk down into the bed to make the woven plastic outer sleeve flex and not just the wire.

There were several threads about this on the old MakerGear Google group site. But what I've seen and heard is that the wire breaks close to the connector. This is the first time I've seen the wire break near the heater bed. I guess it depends on where the tiedowns are placed; that restricts the movement of the harness and dictates where the most stress will be on the wire, and where it will most likely kink up. A number of people have added a support under the bed and sticking out the back, with the wires, connector, and cable harness tied down firmly to it, to make sure that all the flex happens in the cable harness, well behind the connector.

yeah in that first thread tim posted there is a picture of mine. if you have it all setup right there should be no movement at all in the wires anywhere near the connector or hbp. all the movement should be in the loop sticking out of the back of the printer. only 1 tywrap and a small cable clamp on the corner of the spider is all thats needed to control that. at this point john you either need a new hbp or peel back the silicone a bit and solder a new wire on.

Still under warranty, we'll see for Makergear does for me.

My M2 is factory built. Already soldered in a small piece, but it's Mickey Mouse
and won't last for long. Solder job would have been better, there wasn't enough wire to work with
from the bed.

Hi John,

I'm very sorry that you ran into this issue with your HBP. We'll get a replacement out to you and will have a tracking number to you by tomorrow.

There is no need for you to send the problematic HBP back to us.

Thank you very much,
Karen
Done deal, Makergear has it covered!

I just had the exact same thing happen, shouldn't there be some sort of strain relief in this area? I submitted to support, hopefully they pop back with good news.

Posted this before in another thread but ..... this wire bridge might help. While it doesn't solve the problem of the weight on the spider it should keep the wires from breaking.

I just emailed the guy who designed it to see if I can have permission to post the files here. I will let you know what I hear.

Did you ever find about the files for the wire bridge?
