Fan question for the Electronics experts

Post by Jules » Tue Aug 16, 2016 7:29 pm

Okay guys, I had the fan die in the electronics case on the new Rev.E. I opened it up, and found a little 40 mm 24v fan.

On the original M2, I've got a 40 mm 12v fan, and I thought those were supposed to be two 12v fans wired in series. (Have i got that wrong now? Did it change? Is that what caused the 24 volt fan to burn out?)

Reason I'm asking.....I have both a spare 24 volt fan, and a 12 volt fan, and I don't want to replace the 24 volt one with another one that is just going to burn out if it's supposed to be a 12 volt in there.

Figured I'd ask here first before contacting MG. :)

Many thanks!

Update: Okay I went through the Tech Support forum posts searching for crumbs, and I see that Tim says wiring the fans is series isn't a good idea, so i guess they've switched to 24 v parallel wiring. (And there's a 24 volt 50 mm fan on the extruder motors for the duals as well.)

Never mind! :D

(That 24 volt fan was super loud though....maybe it was just going bad. )

Actually bought a couple - and then forgot I had them when I pulled the whole thing apart to change out the fan in the case.
