Post by sonra » Wed Sep 07, 2016 11:18 am

Hi guys
I got my baby (M2 ) second hand from eBay . Does the machine need any maintenance ( like oiling the motors ) except cleaning the debris ,from what I found there is need to grease the z steed rod from time to time . Any thing else ??

Since you got it second hand, you might want to put some grease in the planetary gears if it needs it.

Procedure discussed here:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2544

Other than that, you put a single drop of oil into the X and Y rails once in a while, and move the carriage back and forth to distribute it, and put a drop of oil on each of the smooth Z-axis rods.

(Be very sparing with the amount of grease you use on the grooved Z-axis rod - it causes crud to catch in it and eventually has to be cleaned out.) :D
