LCD Controller

Post by mhandley » Tue Jun 17, 2014 1:26 am

I just got it and got it all wired in then I look at the firmware instructions ---

To use the LCD panel with M2, a newer version of the Marlin firmware is required, that has support for I2C LCD panels. Download Marlin for M2 with LCD panel, and unzip it. Marlin for M2 with LCD panel and x8 microstepping is appropriate for M2s with a 19V/12V PSU set, and an older RAMBo that only supports x8 microstepping.

For 24V M2s, use Marlin for M2 with LCD panel, 24V; for M2s with a 24V 40W hotend, but a 19V PSU, use Marlin for M2 with LCD panel, 19V with 24V heater.

It looks like there are 3 versions but as far as I know I never got anything that tells me which one I have.
I got the unit as a kit in late April of this year.

How do I determine what version and will I be able to update the firmware from a Mac?
I also have Simple3D

Thanks

mhandley,

Almost certainly you have a single power supply that is a metal chassis unit inside a "MakerGear" plastic shell -- that"s the all 24-volt model. They stopped shipping the two-power-supply-brick 19V / 12V version many months ago, not too long after I bought mine in April 2013. Use the "Marlin for M2 with LCD panel, 24V" version.
