Using a tablet as the primary control interface

Post by clownbaby » Sat Aug 26, 2017 7:02 pm

I want to re purpose a tablet so that I can control the printer through it wirelessly (ie canceling/stopping a print, powering down a printer...etc). I am ordering an M2 and understand that it doesn't have a control interface anywhere and was hoping this would be a simple and effective solution.

Sorry for the noob-ish question, my previous printer had a small LCD on the control box and I just did everything through that. Also very new to mg.

Add a Raspberry Pi setup running Octoprint and you should be able to do all that. (I just use TP-Link Smart Plugs to handle the powering aspect though)

Yep - I have the Rasp Pi with Octoprint, and an old Kindle Fire I keep there for control.
