Layer shift? (Tried some things, but to no avail.)

Post by Swami » Mon Dec 04, 2017 7:53 pm

Greetings MGers,

We've all been there! Or at least many of us have. Anywho...

Shift is abrupt, and intermittent, in x, or y. Typically minor shift (unacceptable, though), but once was quite pronounced. Checked setscrew, and belts: OK. Read of possible issue w/ firmware bug, but could use more details - especially how to fix. Aware there's a range of possible sources. Any help would be much appreciated.

Enable "Z Hop" (or "Retraction vertical lift") in your slicer, and set it to 0.20mm.

Thx, Insta.

I see. Yes, Simplify3D has 'Retraction Vertical Lift', which I am aware of, and is set to 1.0mm for the DeltaMaker at my makerspace. Just checked the MGM2 profile, and RVL is surprisingly 0.0mm. I can see how no retraction could push things around sometimes.

I will make the change and let you know how it goes...

P.S. This makes me wonder, is there a better S3D FFF profile for the MGM2? If so, where can it be downloaded? TIA.
