Simplify 3d fff settings

Hey guys, I've been going crazy trying to find a good .fff file for my M2 Rev. D. The one I've been using wasn't that great so I've been trying to find another one. The default one that comes with simplify 3D produced me a poor benchy. The Makergear website only has .fff files for M3's, which I've tried. That gave me a poor benchy as well.

I have no problems with getting my prints to stick, it's just the layers aren't smooth and are ghosting. My surface is a 2 inch heavy duty wood work table with steel legs.

Anyways, does anyone have a .fff file for a M2 Rev. D out there that I can try? Thanks.

Sorry to tell you this, but 3D printing is not like printing a word doc.. it is trial and error until you learn how to set up your slicer.. Every model is a little different.. on size does not fit all.. Rather steep learning curve, especially with S3D.. I just did this starting last Feb.. so stop looking for a FFF file and learn what all the variablea do within the slicer.

Not the first message I was expecting.

First thing, I'm not new to 3d printing. Haven't been for years. I just got my Prusa MK3 working smoothly (thanks to help from a stranger), along with my other MakerGear Rev. E. that's producing decent prints with a .75 nozzle.

Second, I've been tweaking my Rev. D settings on and off for months but the problem is I've gone too far down the rabbit hole with them. I work two jobs so I don't have all the time in the world to do dozens of test prints like I have been doing. So what I'm asking is to borrow someone else's file and then tweak it from there. At least I'll know if my printer malfunctioning if I'm using settings that are deemed to be working by others.

Third, take your judgement elsewhere. This isn't reddit. If you don't have anything productive to add then go to someone else's thread and bother them with your poor criticism.

Well I am not judging, and not an expert, just stating the facts I learned over the past 6 months in one statement.

To reload the original config file, go to Help > Configuration Assistant and walk through the wizard to install the default profile. It will not alter the profiles you already have.

If you have not done so, post in the Simplified 3D forum https://forum.simplify3d.com/ Post a Factory File with your post. To do that load up the model you are having issues with, go to File > Save Factory File as and post that file with photos of the problem and you will get more help then in this forum.

Sorry you are frustrated.

Jules put up a pretty good file quite some time ago. I think it was in a thread titled "Black eSun PETG..." I am sure you can find it; lots of other good stuff in the thread, too. It should make a good start point at any rate.

Thanks for the tips. I'll visit the simplify forum. Sorry I was upset with you earlier.

No Problem, I know the level of frustration with S3D.. and guess what, they claim to be releasing a new version and I am sure everything I have leaned will be null and void when 4.1 is released.. Oh and there will be no documentation.. :?

Haha right? I heard these zits and blops just go away if you use another slicer. So I'm going to try Cura or Slic3r when I get home.

I never went there as every time I would ask people who had switched they would say that S3D was better in so many other ways..
