Great Start - Out of the Box!!!

Post by MakerMike7 » Mon Aug 25, 2014 12:15 am

The M2 just arrived and today was the first day I had a few hours to setup the unit. Wanted to say, the bed was already leveled so no adjusting was needed there. I had to slightly adjust the Z-stop screw and loaded a new roll of Red PLA.

Created a couple of test prints. A 5x5mm cube with 1mm chamfers, A 35mm Pentagon, and then some brackets I'd made to hold clear tubing.

The small cube printed and stuck right to the glass, no issues. Took 1-2 pentagons, and then tried my wife's hair spray.... glad to know there is actually a good use for this stuff now. Now parts stick to the glass without issue and clean up with Windex after the print without issue.

I invested the $140 in S3D and it works seamlessly with my exported .STL files. I only needed to modify the settings to turn off the heated bed, and lowered the 'Primary Layer Height' from 0.2 to 0.1800mm. That kept the layers on top of each other with zero stringing.

Just wanted to say thanks, it's totally worth the coin I put down on this! :D

You've just scratched the surface and nice job on getting up to speed in record time compared to my
learning curve that was much longer.

PLA is a good filament to start with.
