Quick newbie question - M2 kit - z axis motion

Post by jimsx » Wed Nov 26, 2014 2:48 pm

I only started building the M2 kit after work last night - so apologies in advance if this is a dumb question ...

So far I've done the mechanical build / still need to fit the wiring looms - but although the X & Y axes / belts etc move freely, the Z axis / print bed seems to be fairly solidly fixed down at the level of the RAMBo enclosure.

This is how it arrived yesterday and I haven't tried too hard to move it up at this stage just in case I could damage something.

Is this how it is supposed to be - or should I just be able to hold the printing bed & slide it up / down pretty easily? Obviously there's no power yet.

well you have a screw there that controls the height so to move the bed that needs to rotate. it will be harder to move because of this. as long as you can turn the knob easily to move the bed then your ok.

Thanks for the quick reply - I appreciate it is on a screw drive but wasn't sure about moving it yet - I'll give it a few turns :)
