Got everything working and the first print printed beautifully. I went back through and checked the wiring again and it turns out the z stop was reversed (could have sworn I saw the red light...grrr). After double checking the wiring I re-leveled the bed and re-calibrated the z stop. After that....everything works beautifully. Now to dig deeper into the software settings and such.
I also wanted to make this statement, just in case prospective buyers are reading the forum. These wiring mishaps were due to this user. I ordered the machine unassembled as I wanted to know the inner workings with a greater understanding. These mistakes had nothing to do with MakerGear. Everything supplied from them was top notch and meticulously organized.

Nice of you to clarify that! It's impressive that you built your own - I have no doubt that I'd be putting the parts in backwards and upside down if I tried it! (Chuckle!)
