Viki LCD Install on V4

Post by 3dPrintingMD » Wed Oct 14, 2015 4:00 pm

Hi All - I just wanted to ask before I get into it.

Going to add the Viki LCD to the printer. MY main concern is the firmware. I'm assuming that I should just follow the instructions on the wiki site.

Anything I need to be aware of ?

Could use a hand here.

Did an LCD install. Everything seems fine, I have yet to do a print, but I noticed when I home my axis, the Z homes to the bottom of the machine verse the top, it seems like the Z axis is reversed.

Thoughts on this ?

Flip the Z axis homing direction in the firmware -- you probably have the newest firmware (with a bottom endstop) on a machine with a top-mounted endstop.

I should also clarify, I received a Geetech LCD from Makergear.

I'm dead in the water now, not sure how to edit firmware.

Did you change the stepper wiring at all? Perhaps you have one of them put in backwards? To flip a four wire stepper, either flip the wires on one group or swap the two groups of two without changing their orientation.

No I literally did nothing.

Opened case, removed SD Reader, put interface card over correct headers, pushed in place, attached the 2 ribbon cables, and closed box.

Followed this 100%.

The firmware is bad, if you open it,you will notice settings for mendel that are not what they say it should be.

Black z motor needs different firmware than what is currently on website.

This is per mg.
They will update soon.
