Another cool project from Thingiverse. This is the O’Cello. It is about 4feet tall and printed in multiple parts. This is an impressive looking project, but is not that difficult to build. I made a few custom parts that I uploaded back to Tverse as remixes.

I wanted a project that broke out of the M2 size limits and tested some of the mechanics of the 3d print. This is a practice piece for a larger design that I have had floating around in my head.

So this is my submission for one of the annual Arts Council fundraisers. They get local artists to donate their time and materials to make the art on a supplied 8x8 canvas. You pay $50 for a ticket with a random number and each piece has a number assigned to it. You draw a number and win that piece.

As always, I submit something printed on the MG.

I printed this in black PLA using one wall and fast hexagon fill. I used a single perimeter because I knew it would not give good coverage at the top of the spheres, revealing a little of the interior.

The finish is various spray paints and the edge is heavy gel media and metallic glazes.
