Any news on the V4 hotend? It's quickly approaching Loch Ness Monster status (people claimed to have seen one, but the rest of us have our doubts).

I suddenly have the feeling that my previous and current posts about the v4 extruder (which I understand has been code named "Unicorn Horn") will lead to some disappointing Google search results.

After snapping the barrel off in the nozzle tonight, I had a good laugh. It has been one of those days! I am glad I ordered an extra, extra barrel/nozzle, because I am happily printing away again. The overflowing filament was caused by me not tightening the replacement nozzle/barrel connection enough. The barrel snapped when I tried to change it out because the solidified filament had locked it into place.

Here's a hint if you have the same leaking problem:
  • Remove the extruder and remove the plastic end.
Hold the nozzle with a wrench (not your fingers!!!!) and plug both wire connections back in.
Start the heating cycle and once the proper temp is reached, the filament melted into the threads will soften.
Quickly, unplug the heater core and you should be able to use a second wrench to grasp it and remove the barrel and nozzle before it cools.
Clean the barrel/nozzle. (Actually, since I broke mine, it saved me the trouble cleaning. ;) )
BTW, if you put everything down and suddenly decide to pick the barrel back up to examine the break, you will learn what I did. Yes, it is still HOT! Yes, it will burn a set of M6 threads onto your finger faster than your nervous system can tell your brain about it.

The v3 still seemingly hasn't but just touched the beta climax. perhaps A v3 2.0 is in order first.

Also, I had a broken down extruder for a VERY short while, but it was my own fault- again. Still pleasantly surprised I have not had to contact "official" tech support yet. Go M2 Go!

Shortest tech support thread ever. Problem solved before I finished typing the first post. http://www.forum.makergear.com/viewtopi ... 1782#p1782

Hi willnewton - do you have a link to the thingiverse page, or the STL, for that vase you printed a few pages back ? The faceted square-ish one. I really like the look of it, but couldn't see it on thingiverse.

Weigh the empty spool, so you can figure out how much filament you have on a partial spool remaining in the future. I always get the "will it make it" nerves towards the end.

Just dropping an update. After almost four months the M2 is going strong and I am still very happy with it and Simplify3d. I am also pretty thrilled to have lots of interest in my designs I have released on Thingiverse, which was an unexpected surprise. http://www.thingiverse.com/willnewton/designs

I have started pushing outside the print area with larger assembled prints. This quadcopter is 500mm diagonal from motor to motor (I designed the skids, not the quad). I am designing a 40" tall model rocket as well.

Just about six months now and still going strong. Last post was a quadcopter I downloaded, now here is a 250 size quad I designed from scratch. 100% printed except for the hardware.
