I don't see a way to start up Simplify3D 3.0 without logging in. When I launch it, the first thing it does is to ask for my username and password, and then it logs me in. Now it's true that I don't have to stay logged in to use the program. I can go immediately to the "Account" menu and select "Log out", and continue. But I still have to log in to start. Am I missing something?

I find it interesting that you can log out which is a different operation from deactivating that copy. Given how much fuss they've put into their DRM, this cloud login doesn't hit the right note with me.

I just tested slicing speed.

17.59 seconds for version 2.22 and 6.17 seconds for the same file in version 3.0.

2.85x faster.

First off the S3D profile for dual assumes single nozzle prints will use the right nozzle when as far as I know most of us use the left - is there any way to change this default, and if there is will updates from S3D keep resetting it?
It looks like if you edit a process and go to the Extruder tab, you've got two fixed settings called "Left Extruder" and "Right Extruder". However, each one of those allows you to select the tool head from a drop-down list. So you can set "Left Extruder" to be "Tool 0" and "Right Extruder" to be "Tool 1". You can add additional extruders, so the "Right" and "Left" are just names without any particular meaning. Only the tool number has a real connection to the firmware.

tim, the only time you need to connect to the internet is to log into your account to download the software and install it. once its installed no more internet is needed. i just shut down s3d, disconnected my mac from the internet and the software fired right up. under account it has login. the cloud thing is just for you to manage your licenses and get updated printer profiles. nothing more.

It looks like the log in prompt is just for the very first time you run it.

Hmm. Linux bug, maybe? As long as I stay logged in, I can restart. If I log out from the "Account" menu, then the next time I start, it wants my username and password again. Every time. I noticed that the "Remember me" box is checked by default, but then it doesn't appear to be remembering me, either. I might ask if you're surreptitiously being logged in every time you start. However, the test where Jim said that he disconnected from the internet and was still able to start up seems pretty definitive to me. I'll go create a support ticket on the S3D website.
