Simplify 3D Extrusion Width 0.35 Nozzle

Post by 3d-cafe » Sat Dec 05, 2015 4:46 pm

At simplify 3d the preset of 0.35 Nozzle Diameter the extrusion width is is manual setted to 0.40mm . Under the M2 performance specifications is said that for Nozzle orifice diameter 0.35mm the typical extrusion diameter is 0.43mm .

Is it a bug in S3D?

My setting is extrusion width 0.43mm and it works fine.
What settings do you use?

I generally use a width of from 0.4mm to 0.45mm and corresponding layer heights of 0.2mm and 0.25mm. :D

if you design the model urself is easier to design (especially architecture) based on .40

the tickenss of a small wall .8 (2 layers) the thickens of a thick wall 1.2 (3 layer) and thickness of column or exterior bearing wall 2.4 (6 layers)
plus if ur wall has some reveal in it you may want to add an extra layer to be able to hint reveal 0.4 in it

if i had to draw .43 it would be a pain in the ass...

honestly using .4 wall i set .39 in S3D as sometimes i make thiny detail 0.4 and S3D skip them if i use exactly 0.4 now that i use .39 all detail come out even the tiny one
that number is really for S3D to decide what to insert in the code and what to skip it's not really representative of realty it's a number that s3d use to create the gcode model

you can see example of what i am talking in this post i made long time ago
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2959
the tiny wall of the grass area were .4 (single layer) and S3d skipped 2 probably because there were not perfecly coinciding with a modular geometry based on .4 so it was half and half over the below layer
but if you set up .39 it will not skip anything
