Simplify3D Profile for MakerGear M3-SE Needed

Post by Extruder » Sat Jun 17, 2017 11:19 pm

I'm wondering what printer settings to use in Simplify3D for the MakerGear M3-SE? The printer comes with instructions regarding how to use OctaPrint with an open source slicer but I didn't see any instructions for Simplify3d printer settings.

There is no "MakerGear M3" profile that I can select in the Configuration Assistant in Simplify3D. Should I use the "MakerGear M2 (24V V4 hotend)" selection? Or do I need to choose "other" in the Configuration Assistant and put in all the settings? If I choose "other", then exactly what settings do I need to use?

This is my first 3D printer.

MakerGear M2 (24V V4 hotend) should be fine.

The M2 and the M3 are virtually the same, however the M3 obviously has a bunch of upgrades over the M2.

I tried the MakerGear M2 (24V V4 hotend) printer profile in Simplify3D for my new M3-SE and it worked great. Thanks!

MakerGear technical support also said that profile was fine to use. In related news, Rick said they are working on a related instructional video in his post in the other forum.

I posted this in your First Impressions thread as well, but for visibility:

We're working on getting all of our documentation in one place - the Zendesk Help Center which will tie-in nicely with existing support - and linked in the proper locations on the website. As the first video below says, we are working on getting the M3 S3D profile bundled with S3D, but our update schedules didn't quite line up so it will take a bit of time.

You can find a video on how to use Simplify3D with your M3 here:

You can also find more info about on-board slicing in OctoPrint in these 2 articles/videos:
